DVSA Update
Following the recent changes to restrictions in England, Wales and Scotland, we issued messages to explain how our services will be impacted.
You can check the latest information about how training and tests are affected across Great Britain:
theory tests

driving instruction and motorcycle training
Driving test centre waiting rooms
We had planned to reopen 75 driving test centre waiting rooms between 18 December and 29 December.
We'll update you on plans to reopen those waiting rooms in Tier 4 or level 4 areas when we're able to resume our services.
Check the latest information and rules about driving test waiting rooms.
Travel out of Tier 4 or level 4 areas
You must not travel out of the below areas to give driving or riding lessons or to take a pupil for a test:
tier 4 areas in England
alert level 4 areas in Wales
protection level 4 areas in Scotland
Business support
Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
If you're self-employed and have been impacted by coronavirus, check if you can claim a grant through the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme.
To make a claim, your business must have had a new or continuing impact from coronavirus between 1 November 2020 and 29 January 2021, which you reasonably believe will have a significant reduction in your profits.
The taxable grant is worth 80% of your average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment covering 3 months’ worth of profits, and capped at £7,500 in total.
If you’re eligible, you must make your claim for the grant on or before 29 January 2021.
Find out more about the support available to businesses.
Out-of-pocket expenses for cancelled tests
Your pupils cannot claim out-of-pocket expenses for any tests that are cancelled at short notice due to local restrictions introduced to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
Check the rules about claiming expenses for a cancelled driving test.
Booking and managing your pupils' driving tests during Christmas
Due to a system error, the trainer booking service opened at 6am instead on 8am on Christmas Eve as planned. We're investigating this and putting messages in place to make sure this does not happen again.
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
The service to book and manage your pupils' driving tests will also open at 8am instead of 6am on New Year's Eve as planned.
DVSA opening hours: Christmas and New Year
